ArchivalResource

John Fitch family papers, 1729-1838.

Financial records, legal documents and correspondence of several generations of the Fitch family of Windham and Mansfield, Connecticut. The financial records include promissory notes, receipts, and accounts. Legal documents consist of deeds, agreements, summons, complaints, testimony and other court records, a power of attorney document of Captain John Fitch, and the estate records of Eleazar Fitch, which John Fitch administered. Trying to distinguish among the various John Fitches is nearly impossible so the documents are arranged strictly in chronological order. It appears that at least three John Fitches are represented in the collection.
